Integrated solutions for the social inclusion of the children and young people with disabilities

The project ”Integrated solutions for the social inclusion of the children and young people with disabilities” is implemented by Bethany Foundation for Social Services, in partnership with the National Association for Children and Adults with Autism of Romania  (A.N.C.A.A.R.) –Iasi Branch and The Federation of Non-Governmental Organisations for Social Services – FONSS.

The project is implemented during the period January – December 2016 and proposes a series of solutions for improving the services provided to the people with disabilities from the North-Eastern region, such as: providing recovery services through a new type of therapy, sensorial stimulation for children and young people with disabilities. For this purpose, a chamber of multisensorial stimulation will be arranged at the headquarters of Bethany Foundation; implementation of a program of parental education for the parents of the people with disabilities; establishing a professional network for the active specialists in the field of disability; promoting the rights of the people with disabilities and improving the legislation by collaborating with the decisional actors from the local and central level.

The project is addressed to the children and young people with disabilities, their families, but also to the active institutions in the field: 30 children and young people with ages between 2 and 25 years with disabilities that are being monitored by Bethany Foundation for Social Services, 50 parents or attendants of the children and young people with disabilities, 30 specialists from 20 NGOs active in the field of promoting the protection of the rights of people with disabilities from the North-Eastern region, 50 representatives of the active NGOs and public institutions in the field of promoting and respecting the rights of the people with disabilities from the North-Eastern Region.

On the project, FONSS has assumed to organize  4 debates in Iasi, Bacau, Suceava and Vaslui, in order to gather documentary evidence regarding the perception of the representatives of the people with disabilities and authorities regarding the involvement of the person with disabilities in the process of making decisions in their regard. Furthermore, FONSS has also assumed the engagement of participating to the meetings at national level with regard to the implementation of social politics, meetings important for the people with disabilities. In addition to this, FONSS will also elaborate a Frame-Document with recommendations of improvement regarding Law no. 448/2006 concerning the promotion and protection of persons with disabilities.

The project is co-funded through a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution for the extended European Union and has a total budget of84.222 CHF. The given grant is 74.950 CHF, and the co-funding ensured by the applicant is 9.272 CHF.
